Talented Cats and Cat Training

Do you play an instrument or sing? If you do, have you noticed how your cat reacts to the sounds that you are making?
I had a cat called Judy, who was drawn to me whenever I played the recorder, none of the other cats seemed to take any notice of the sound at all. I was like the Pied Piper of Hamlin to Judy whenever I played, I’m sure she would have followed me over the hills and far away to the sound of that recorder.
My mother’s cat Muffin seemed to disapprove of my mother’s singing. As soon as she began to sing Muffun would leave the room, which didn’t help my mother’s confidence much.
My sister’s cat Branston, a very loving Tortie, used to play the piano, especially to wake up my sister in the mornings. Unfortunately her talents were not encouraged, otherwise she could have become a celebrity cat like Nora the piano playing cat:
This is the first video of Nora, who picked up playing the piano from her guardians, who teach piano to humans. They didn’t teach her to do this as a trick so they say. The lovely thing about Nora and her playing is that she seems so much to enjoy making the sounds. She is a very wonderful and talented cat. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=TZ860P4iTaM
This, the second video of Nora, is I think even nicer: http://www.youtube.com/user/burnellyow
After seeing these videos I thought it would be a lovely idea to use Nora’s music as part of one of my own musical compositions, but someone else obviously had the same idea and beat me to it. See the CATcerto http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zeoT66v4EHg
I would like to make a piece of music using a cat’s purring as the background – that would be wonderfully soothing don’t you think?
Here’s a cat Rockband called the Rockcats! http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=JahpW77Qg84
The woman Samantha, who trained the cats uses a method called Clicker Training. Yes its pretty incredible and the great thing is that you too can train your cat……its fun and easy both for you and the cat. You can teach your cat to come when called, keep off the table, walk on a leash and do tricks and games, all with a click and a treat.
Sounds amazing; check out the Getting Started Clicker Training for Cats Kit
Have fun with your talented cats.
